I’ve been in other homes with play areas for children that look more like this:
They’re both gorgeous. But they’re very, very different!
Take a look at the first photo. Does it really look like kids play there? The furniture is blocking kids’ access to the chalkboard. Many of the toys and books are too high for children to reach. Props for pretend play are out of sight.
In the second photo, everything is within reach of the children: books, blocks, the abacus, and whatever other goodies are in those bins. There’s lot of open space on the floor for children to use. You can just imagine what kids will do with all that stuff and space.
When you create a children’s play area, set it up with children in mind, not adults!
